Enroll A Child

Interested in enrolling your child in Big Brothers Big Sisters?

• The children we serve are between 6-16 years of age.
• There is no fee for our services and there is no income requirement. We serve children from all walks of life.
• Our volunteers agree to spend one hour each week with your child at a designated site location to engage in fun and educational activities supervised by the Big Brothers Big Sisters Site Coordinator.  
• The safety and well being of the youth we serve is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ highest priority. Therefore, our Bigs undergo a thorough screening process in order to gain an increased understanding of their needs and expectations as a volunteer in our program. Our matches are effective because professional staff ensure that the relationships are safe and rewarding for everyone involved.

1. You (the parent or legal guardian) contact our office at 607-936-3507 or fill out the form below to begin the application process.
2. After your child has been accepted into the program, our Site Coordinators will meet to try to find the best possible match for your child. Much of the information your child provides at the interview will be used to match them with a Big.
3. One of our Site Coordinators will contact you to discuss the potential Big with you. You will receive information about the potential Big and you can decide whether or not you feel that Big will be an appropriate match for your child.
4. Once you have accepted a potential Big, you and your child will come to your designated site location to meet the Big. You will have the opportunity to talk to the Big one-on-one to help you feel completely at ease about the match.
5. On a weekly basis, the match will meet at the designated site location for one hour.
6. The Site Coordinator will continue to monitor the match throughout the life of the match.
